At the beginning of the colloquy Dr. Markus Schick gave a review over the political sys-tem of the EU and the process of decision making within the European institutions. Furthermore Dr. Schick described in short the responsibilities and the organisational background of the Bavarian representation to the EU. The participants from HCPC Europe came to the conclusion that informal contacts and contact networks can achieve advantages in the very formal – and mostly time consuming – decision making environment in Brussels.

So far compliance – in the eyes of Dr. Schick – has not been a topic on the political agenda in Brussels.

Dr. Schick suggested drafting a document that summarises the topic compliance for non-experts and also gives a review of the content and problematic situation.

He recommended making contact with the European Commission under the aspect of EU-Health Strategy. Basically it would be sensible to bind the topic compliance to concrete current projects of the Commission and to bring it in this manner repeatedly on the political agenda.

Dr. Schick has offered to establish contact with the EU-Commission for HCPC Europe and has declared his willingness to participate in a following colloquy. After the board of directors has come to a decision HCPC Europe will contact Dr. Schick to coordinate the following measures.
